FAQs
-
Yes. Basic swimming skills are required for scuba certification. Before becoming certified, you'll complete a continuous swim and a 10 minute float or tread water. You don't need to be a strong swimmer, but you should feel comfortable and confident in the water.
-
Join the club! Many divers, including Gabby, were nervous to learn how to dive. We’ll take it step by step and you are in good hands watching out for your safety.
-
Absolutely! A lot of people come solo and end up making lasting friendships. Or if you want some introvert time, it’s a safe space to unplug and do your own thing.
-
Costs typically include dive certification or dives, accommodations, equipment rentals, select meals, transportation, airport transfers, select group activities, and tips for guides. Each trip varies by location, so please refer to the trip information packet for the full pricing and cost breakdown.
-
You’re welcome to bring your own gear, but for most trips gear is included unless noted otherwise.
-
Gabby and her team will send thorough emails outlining everything you need to know before the trip. A WhatsApp group will also be created so divers can connect, ask questions, and meet each other before arrival.

Dates: November 4th - November 10th, 2026
We’re going to Africa. This trip is part of The Motherland Series, created as a space reserved for Black divers to connect, return, and spend time in a place that holds pieces of our story. My visit to Zanzibar was soul nourishing, and I couldn’t wait to bring you all back with me. We’ll be staying in a lively beach town with luminous, crystal blue water that looks like it’s glowing. Beyond diving, we’ll visit a spice farm, take a Swahili cooking class, and take a dance class with local dancers, then explore the colorful, vibrant streets of Stone Town. But what stayed with me most was the feeling of being embraced, not just as a visitor, but as a sister from across the sea. Let’s go home.
Destination: Zanzibar, Tanzania
